Putting on an event like ADZPCTKO isn't free. Unless you're a 2008 PCT
thru hiker,
we'll gladly accept your donation to cover some of the costs. Ready to pay up?

skip the drivel and jump right to the payment options!Q. So how much does
this cost?
The "budget" (as if we were organized enough to have a budget) for
this year's event is more than $8000. That covers the camping fees at Lake Morena,
food and drinks, insurance, some transportation and water costs for water
stashing, and miscellaneous expenses. Q. How much should I donate?
Don't let us hold you back; go crazy. But if you want a suggestion, how about
this: $15 for yourself plus another $15 to sponsor a freeloading 2008 hiker. If
you're donating for more than one person, figure on $5 per person per night. Q.
Why do 2008 PCT hikers get a break?
No contributions will be accepted from you fortunate ones who aspire to hike the
PCT this year. This event is for you (plural). You have enough things to worry
about and costs to cover in order to accomplish this incredible journey. We want
to do this for you to lighten the tension of starting out, kill a lot of those
damn butterflies, and share with you just a bit of the magic and wonder that we
have experienced. Please take no offense by this refusal. There is none meant.
Please allow us this little weird thing we demand. There are no other rules or
demands to the ADZPCTKO. We think you will find this a very comfortable, low key,
fun thing. Please consider coming to the 11th ADZPCTKO next year, contributing to
cover yours and perhaps other's expenses and sharing your most recent
experiences of your 2008 hike with those that aspire to thru-hike in 2009. We
are pleased to put this on and look forward to meeting you and all of the class
of 2008. Q. What if you collect more in donations than you spend?
First, of course, we'll try to find more ways to spend money. Anything left
over will be used to purchase badly needed items requested by Lake Morena County
Park rangers and/or donated to the Pacific
Crest Trail Association (PCTA). Q. Other than cash donations, how can I
help?
How about donating a prize for the gear contest? Contact AGPLDHG&IR honcho
Jason Cramer.
We also appreciate the help of volunteers for various tasks throughout
the weekend. We'll have more information about volunteer opportunities
on the website soon; at the event, check with the volunteer coordinator
in the registration area (site 13).
Q. Is this tax deductible?
Yeah, right. As if we're set up as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. But we think it's a
worthy cause; go ahead and deduct it. (Remember, however: we are hikers, not tax
advisers.)
Q. How do I donate?
Thought you'd never ask. We have two easy ways to pay:
- If you prefer to write a check, please mail your donation
(payable to ADZPCTKO) to:
Greg Hummel Dept. ADZPCTKO 23239 Ironhorse Canyon Rd. Diamond Bar, CA 91765
