PCT Bandana
Linda "Gottago" Jeffers, Jackie "Yogi" McDonnell, and John "Cupcake" Brennan, representing the PCT Class of 2002, originally wanted to provide a gift to the PCT Class of 2003. They wanted the gift to be lightweight and useful. Gottago came up with the idea of gifting data bandanas, Yogi provided the data, and Cupcake created the artwork. These bandanas were in fact useful and did become popular. They have now become a tradition. In addition to the myriad usual uses for a bandana, these are a unique hitchhiking sign and navigation aid, and provide an at-a-glance response to incredulous folks who ask "What's the PCT?" These are collector's items folks! Again in 2008, bandanas are a gift from the PCT Class of 2002 to the current year hikers. Each 2008 thru or section hiker can pick up a free bandana at the ADZPCTKO registration desk in site 13. Other ADZ attendees can purchase a bandana from registration or Gottago for only $5, which includes a $1 donation to the PCTA.
If you are hiking this year, but will not be at the Kick Off, you may pick up your bandana at Donna and Jeff Saufley's in Agua Dulce. Thanks to Gottago, Cupcake, and Yogi for their generous support of thru hikers and of the Kick Off! |
