Jeff Zimmerman

25 years is a long time since that day I first stepped foot on the PCT. It's hard to believe it's been that many years since my first PCT hike. A what's more crazy is that I hiked the PCT for a second time in 2000. I must admit that I'm a pretty spontaneous kind of guy but this was a little over the top even for me. Planning a two week hike (Campo to Cabizon) and then on the fly realized that this hike would only end at Manning some 140 days later.

After '77 I came back home went back to school (not for long though) Said I would never do a long hike again. (never say never). Built a log cabin in 1985 still live there (probably will always live there, just don't think I could ever sell, to much of my heart and soul went into that home). Did lots cross-country ski trips (Yellowstone, Yosemite just to name two). Went on many hikes and mountain climbing trips with my two friends Greg Hummel and Monte Dodge who I met on the PCT in '77.

Oh no, this year I'll be hiking the CDT, Wow my life has finally come full circle. I'm hiking these long trails again. Some of my best friends are folks I met while on the PCT.
