On September 6, Gary wrote in the PCT register at Stehekin: "Well unfortunately my trip is ending here. A very painful foot and diarrhea for the last week and a half has been too much. I was really looking forward to the border, but I really don't feel well. Good luck to all the other groups and singles along PCT."
