Michigan Boys in 1977...
These guys were known variously as the Michiganders, Michigan Boys, Michigan Men, and Illinois Boy (when Bob hiked solo).
On September 8, Dan wrote in the PCT register at Stehekin: "I got back on the trail in Cascade Locks after going back to MI with a bad case of diarrhea. Now that I look back over the section I missed I hope to come back and do it sometime. The Cascades in nice weather are so much more spectacular than I ever believed they could be. Glacier Peak Wild. was great! I am looking forward to the border with mixed emotions. Good luck to all you thru hikers coming up."

Dan and Bob at Stehekin, September 8. Bob wrote in the PCT register at Stehekin: "Well the rain was a bit discouraging since Goat Rocks but we had a couple of fantastic days around Glacier Peak. Hard to believe it's less than 100 to Canada now. Hopefully with a little sunshine and a lot of 'adrenaline' we'll be in Canada soon. We'll be laying back there a couple days so be ready Case, Klauer, and Kearns." |
